Message: The only place I have heard of a "ballast resistor" would be in a fluorecent light fixture. If you are talking about a fuseable link, they are everywhere in the wire harnesses, or a blower resistor block, it is located on the passenger side fire wall toward the hood seal, has a 5 pin harness connected to it. Other than that, could you be more specific to what system this goes to.
If it doesn't fit, you're using the wrong hammer!

Message: The ballast resistors are not used anymore. They were found on the old-type ignition systems that used a cam and points inside the distributor. The resistor was to keep the coil windings from burning up from the high voltage. Today's ignition systems are electronic (solid state) and do not use ballast resistors. About the only things normally replaced nowadays are the distributor cap, rotor, plugs and ignition leads.
