Subject: Low Oil Pressure 3.9L V6 Dakota
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 2002 Dakota V6 3.9L that has about 69,000 miles. I just noticed that the oil pressure stays just barely above the low mark. It does not move when accelerating or decelerating. Also, this morning my "Check Gauges" light blinked on and then went off. In the past, I have always noticed that my oil pressure would vary based on acceleration. Anyone have any ideas of what may be wrong??

Thanks,
Joey

First off....STOP DRIVING IT till you know what's up. Check the oil pressure with a mechanical guage. If it reads correct change the sending unit. If not most likely your oil pickup is sludged nearly closed and serious dammage will result without fixing before driving any more.

So many problems .... So little time

LISTEN TO OBs!

Hook up a mechanical gauge, now.

The specs are wierd; like 5-10lb at idle, 25-up running. Mine is so low at idle the new electric gauge reads zero. But I know the real pressure. The "ding-ding" is cute but irritating.
