Subject: Crank Pos. Sensor IP: Logged
Message: I just finished the crank position sensor mod., slotting the mounting holes 3/8". When I installed the sensor I noticed that I couldn't adjust the sensor in the bell housing 3/8". Yes, I removed the little rubber gasket, but still, I thought that the adjustment was going to be 3/8", in order to get the 3-4 degree advance. The performance is slightly noticeable.

Message: If you do the sensor mod and get 3 or 4 degrees more then use the superchips programmer, what would happen? Would the programmer go over board on the timing as it would think the sensor is in stock position or would it adjust. Larry? Anybody?

Message: In my last post I said the performance is slightly noticeable but now I can really feel it. The engine actually is more quiet and driving up hills is an easier task. This is turning out to be better than I thought.
2000dak, Good question, would the superchips over advance due to the CPS mod already being in place?
Larry, my truck performs better with the injector sync. set at zero, rather than in the + range. Why would that be?

Note: Yes, that was a FRAM oil filter on my truck...but I'm smarter now (now using Mobil 1 filters).

Message: There is no need to remove the wheel or wheel house. Just take out the bolts holding the transmission dipstick tube so it gets out of the way, but don't pull it out and the 2 bolts for the sensor are easier to get to. Then undo the 2 bolts holding the sensor and disconnect the harness and gently pull it out. Elongate the holes then put it back in and slide it down towards the oil filter. Tighten it up and reconnect it and reset the PCM and you are away.
