Subject: Fuel Injector help? IP: Logged
Message: I want to replace my stock fuel injectors with after market performance injectors. Objective is to gain better mileage and power. Wanna know the correct model number and make? Larry from J&J autoshop said to check out web site "fiveomotorsport.com" I visited this site but only one I saw were the same as stock part.
The mods I had with my truck are: JBL headers, Fastman 46mm trottle body, Magnaflow muffler, Air intake, Jet II control module, MSD 8.5mm spark plug cable, Napa Cap & Rotor and NKG Spark Plugs

First you should check the how to section of this site. It gives you the correct injector for the year of your Dakota. Second the Bosch Injectors on the fiveosport.com site are different from stock so I'm not sure where you're looking but they're not the same.

Message: Yea the injectors from "FiveO" Will work in our trucks. Depending on your year your injector should be a 19pound stock. Do you have the older "fat" injector or the newer "skinny" one ? Look at their chart http://fiveomotorsport.com/Injector_SetsDODGE.asp

How many MPG do you expect to gain?
Is it still worth the money?
Maybe you'd be better investing in something with a better return, like oil stock.

So, lets say you pick up 2 MPG. How long will it take to pay off $340.08?
Actually, that is exactly how I justified my Jacobs Ignition and Gibson Headers. Both are paid for. But...I drive a couple hundred miles a day, and it took a year or so.
So, G.
Hidden in the above is your answer. You can justify the expense because of rising gas prices and because your truck can last long enough to realize the savings.
On the other hand, that was when gas was cheap. Remember cheap? Cheap: $1.75.
Okay, Larry, I'm convinced. Now my problem is having 500,000 miles on the truck, and it probibly isn't worth spending that kind of money any more.
