Subject: Engine Mounts IP: Logged
Message: Does anyone have a simple solution to how to replace the engine mounts in a 96' dak? I don't have an engine lift but both of my mounts need replaced. I've already ordered the parts and I'm not willing to dish out the cash to a shop to have them do it. Any ideas?

Message: all u need is a floor jack, a piece of wood, and the right tools. Jack ur engine up using the crank pulley with the wood between the jack and pulley, and lift the motor up. Remove the old mounts. u can reach them from top or from underneath. Put the new ones on, and lower the motor back down. I had to do this too a couple of months ago, and i did this by myself with no prior knowledge. The only other helpful thing i can think of, is if ur street is kinda slanted, do it on the street because the motor will lean towards the downside. This is actually how i did it too and it seemed to work a little better.

Message: be carefull how much you jack it up ... the engine will tilt backwards and shove your dist. cap into the firewall .... and jacking it up by the crank pully is not the best way ... you could tweak it enough to cause a problem with it later .. your better off renting a engine hoist... around here i can get one for like $40 a day .. well worth the cost....

Message: Where exactly are the engine lift points on the 3.9L I went to look at it today to see where to lift it from, and couldn't see anything...
Thanks in advance,

Message: There are no actual "lifts points" installed, the best place is the exhaust manifolds I have found.
If it doesn't fit, you're using the wrong hammer!
