Several people claim to have done well by just removing the clutch fan and going with the stock A/C fan. I'm probably going to try this myself soon. The A/C fan comes on at about 210 degrees or whenever the A/C is on. For the 3.9 it seems adequate. If you just want more or are not sure that will work, I've been told that 2800 CFM minimum is what you're looking for.

The 99 does not have a stock A/C electric fan .. only the clutch one ......

I have been running a Black Magic 150 on my 97 Dakota 3.9 for about 4 years now. It works great. I did not like the top and bottom mounting brackets so I custom made some that mount the fan from the sides.

their great adjustable heat sensor and all
and if you dont have an AC fan these have a plug to wire up for the AC (come on when AC kicks in)
only diff. i used the mounting brackets i didnt care what it looked like (1 yr. no probs)

I have had the black magic 150 fan for 2 years no problems and never has overheated.

I did not like the plates and bolts sticking up on top. Here is a link to a Pic of what my Fan looks like with side mounted brackets.

stevebdak. I mounted my fan the same as you did using the stock brackets. I plan to make some brackets simular to yours but I have not gotten around to it. you have a good looking installation.
