Subject: 3.9l mpg to 22 IP: Logged
Message: I changed my spark plugs to Champion 4071 truck plugs and my highway mileage improved to 22 mpg. I have been getting 20.5mpg on highway driving (65mph no a/c) with autolite double platinum - 1 step cooler.
The only other things I changed were - new ignition wires.
The truck feels as if it pulls better and idles smoother. This is just a feeling

Message: And how many tankfuls are each of these numbers based on? You need some history to attribute it to these changes. One or two tankfuls would not be enough.

Message: The champ truck plug is about a half range colder
on your truck losing milage the 3923 autolite was
a little to cold
The truck plug was designed to help ping on these
motors
You just need more mods than the colder plug would
be ok
you may have also had weak spark bad wires get a
napa brass incert cap and rotor mo26 mo28 it will
also help get more volts to the plugs

Message: My truck is a 92 2wd Auto 3.9 and I get 10MPG.. Wtf.. I believe it was because they put smaller exhaust piping on my truck... I used to get about 15 or 17... in that area.. *PISSED*

Message: The 4.10 gears will throw your speedo off around
5 to 7 mph depending on tire size
The rpm crusing at 60 will change from 1800 to
right around 2200 rpm I am running the 4.10
behind my stroker motor on the high way you
will have a lot of snot crusing
I am getting like 19 20 with the 4.10 gears at
60mph
in O/D with the .69 reduction aroun 3 to 1 with
the 3.55 you were at around 2.4 to 1

Message: I found this formula to compute your speed with a gear change:
actual mph = (old axle ratio/new axle ratio) x indicated mph

Message: What would be really cool is to know where you are, so we could figure which government mandated botique gas you were using, how weather affected your performance, if altitude made a difference.
I drove almost 300 miles yesterday, religeously at 65 and got 21.3.
