Subject: Magnum swap 3.9 V6 IP: Logged
Message: I have a '90 4x4 5spd 3.9 non-magnum truck and just acquired a 92 3.9 magnum engine from a 2wd automatic truck. I also got the entire engine and underdash wiring harness.
I noticed the crank position sensor so I guess I'll need a different flywheel. I also noticed that the steering column is different - can the earily column accept the '92 cab harness?
Surely this swap has been done and if someone could chime in with some pointers it would help greatly.
Will the auto ECM work ok on a manual transmission or do I need a different ECM?

Message: efi,you could have the 92 heads drilled and tap to except your 90 intake and solve the wiring issues, hughes engines will do this for about $60
or get the wiring diagrams for your truck and the 92 and change the ones that are in a different place where they go thru the firewall[theres about 12 wires]and drill the bellhousing for the crank sensor and change the flywheel, these are the major issues
