Subject: Water's Back!!!
IP: Logged

Message:
So after replacing my back window and all. Now that is continues to rain I have water on my floor yet again. I am sure it is not the A/C thing and now I know it's not my back window because it has been sealed really well. I am having the side window checked tomorrow. Does anyone have any other suggestions of what might be causing this water to enter my poor truck? I am beyond frustration at this point. Please Help!

Windshield. The molding just pulls off. Pull the rubber from around the door, careful if there is a pull out rivet.

Yeah I have already checked there. I have check under the dash, around the windshield, my door window, drain plugs, replaced the back window because it was leaking and now I am just stumped. Any other ideas?

My 62 Land Rover had a hole in the floor right where the tyre (it IS English, you know) threw water up in the passangers face. Sure, I put a bolt in eventually.
What the heck is my point?
All vehicles have drain holes somewhere. I don't know where mine are, but Dakotas is Dakotas, so let us know if you find any that might have failed.

I know the seals around my side windows in my Ram are not water tight and I get water in the doors when it rains. When I open the door, it drains out a hol in the bottom. I'm not sure about the Dakotas, but if you have the same thing, it might be coming from there.

I can't remember what year your truck was, from the last thread about this. But on my 93, I found a bad situation at the lower rear corner of the driver's door jamb. I pulled the seal off and where it clips onto the body in that location, the weld was real sloppy to the point that it looked as though the water could seep in UNDER the seal. As I recall, I took a file or rotary grinder to it to smooth the rough area and then shot it with some spray paint.

Brandee, Read my post on the TSB page of this site. Do you find water where the jack is stored under the right rear seat? Look for "Water in pass floorboard" on the dealer, tsb page. Look for my posts there and see if your symptoms are like mine. Are you in CA? I am in Tracy, CA.

Relf.

Yeah I am in Cali, I am in Martinez. I took my truck back to the window guy hoping they had just sealed it incorrectly. So they removed the window again and we actually found a hole in the welding right below the back window on the passenager side, I could stick my fingernail into the seam. So I am going to run water over my truck after I get home tomorrow to see if the guy fixed it for me. He primered it and sealed it really well, and then put the window back in. So let's see. The glass guy also told me he sees a lot of welding issues on the bodies of Dodge and Ford's.

Don't go to Michael Stead in Walnut Creek either, they are jack asses.

I bought mine in Richmond, because I had to search all over for a 5 speed 4 X 4, and they were the only one that had one.

Why don't you like Lithia? I take my truck there for the recalls.

Let me count the ways.

Recalls & freebies sure. Lithia. They are closest.

When the new 1500 came out I went through Costco and wound up with Bill, the Fleet Manager. I wanted a regular cab long bed with anti lock brakes.
Three order's didn't go through. CalTrans bought the run with anti lock brakes and I refused to pay another $6,000.00 for the package for one on the lot. They kept my $800.00 for six months. I got my money back and, sure enough, the price went down!

If they would have sold me the truck I could have saved $4,000.00. Costco....Good!

My mechanic (Dex's Automotive, Pacheco) likes Antioch Dodge.

Usually I just go to Alex Automotive in Concord over off of Port Chicago Highway, by Heald College because he is really good and reasonably priced. I hate dealers in general so I try to stay away as much as possible. :P

Sorry, guy's. We will stop this personal conversation now.

By the way, Bay Area People. Look for the Longbed, regular cab with the high shell; white on white. On the tail gate; a World Courier sign and a 500,000 miles using Amsoil sign. Use the Vulcan salute, so I'll know you.

What you don't think a half way good looking chick can drive a 4 x 4, 5 speed? You have to understand I am originally from Idaho, so 4 x 4 's are a must in Northern Idaho :P You all are to funny. Plus I don't think the husband would like it too much. ;) But I will give you this much. I am 26, 5'4" about 130 lbs, brown hair, brown eyes.

But back to business. The leak has finally stopped. I took a high pressure hose to it and nothing happened. You can't believe how happy I am.....now I just have to wait for the carpet to finish drying.
