Subject: Dies @ Idle IP: Logged
Message: I was wondering if someone could help me figure out why my 93 3.9L Dakota has started dying when at idle. It has never done this before, when I stop at a stop sign it just quits. I might just be bad gas but I was wondering if anyone else had any thoughts.

Message: Could be your idle controller. Older ones it called a Automatic Idle Speed Controller or I- Something-Something. Newer ones I think Idle Air Controller Valve. It hooks up right a the throttle linkage. I thinks its between 60-120 dollars. I replaced mine and it fixed it... it would idle funny and at stop lights I'd throw it in Neutral and keep the idle above 1300RPMs just to keep it going. Then rev it as the light turn green. VVVRRMMMM. Also had issues with gas like fuel injector and fuel filter. But those you can usually tell the difference being not a sensor related issue. Thinks that will do it for starters. late.

Very brief but look into the cleaning what was mentioned. I didn't know about cleaning it and replaced it. Not a really cheap part.

Message: I think Larry means after the IAC is removed, to clean the area where the IAC came from. And be careful with the IAC.

Message: I cleaned the IAC & found the "plunger" so I know what you are talking about but it is still not wanting to stay running. I guess the IAC could be bad. There is a new O2 sensor already in it and I have kept up to date with tune ups so scratch those of the list of troubleshooting. What next?
