Subject: 3.9 TB swap ?'s

Message:
I am looking at replacing my throttle body in my 2000 3.9l for a larger throttle body from a 4.7, 5.2, or a 5.9. I can't find the forum that had all the information and the right TB to use. Can anyone help me. Do I need to use a 4.7 TB, azaren't the 5.2-5.9's the same? I heard you need a specific year, past 2002 or something.

Please help if you can.

A 4.7 throttle body wont work cuz it's a completely different set up. You can grab one off of a 5.2 or 5.9..pretty sure they're the same... it will directly bolt to you manifold all you need to do is get a new gasket and a throttle cable because the ends are different... I think the V8 is a disc and the V6 is a ball. Been a little while since I did mine.

good V8 body needs to be 96 or newer 318 360
around $100 bolt on as is do not mod and use all
your V6 sensors because you know they are good

better Fastman 46mm $250 exchange this is a mod
stock body

Best F&B Flowmetrics $380 a new body made from a
solid chunk of billet alm

All 3 will give you mid and top end increase in
performance from 15 to 18 hp at the wheels

The fastman and F&B will give you gains just off
idle to redline

Justin, I am boring out my 42mm (V6) TB to a 46mm. I am even making the plates to match. I will let you know how it comes out. I have another stock 42mm that I will open up if the first one works out okay.

Relf.
