Subject: '87 Dakota 3.9 water pump IP: Logged
Message: I have to replace the water pump on my wife's Dakota. Does anyone know if it's a pretty simple job or is it rather complicated. For example; Do I have to mess with the timing at all? Any advice will be helpful. Thanks!

Message: should be pretty easy, i believe it would be the same as my 90. loosen the belts. remove the fan and water pump pully. when you take the bolts out for the water pump, the bolts that hold the alternator bracket and air pump bracket will need to come out too (they're throu the brackets and pump). the brackets should be able to be moved slightly outta the way. should be able to do it in a few hours. no messin aroun with the timing.
