Message: Ok I looked down inside the throttle body....there is some oil, like a lite coting, and some sludge oil in a few spots...Could that be the problem, a blown intake gasket, causing all this trouble...How hard is it to change, how much will it cost me, how many things have to come off.......What is my best option for this....

Message: Could be a possible fix, start the vehicle up with the air hat removed, and shoot a shot of throttle body cleaner down the intake and see if it cleans it out, if it comes back, you are having either blow by off of the PCV system, or a possible intake man leak.

Message: About your tool issue, we all start somewhere bro, trust me on that. Pull out the PCV valve from the valve cover, and shake it, if it rattles, its most likely good, to be on the safe side, spray it with some throttle body cleaner as well, and let it dry out completely, usually need to change them every tune up. Now the fuel filter issue I was reading, what year exactly is your dodge, because starting in 98 the filter was built onto the pump and wasnt replaceable without replacing the pump. Now you can spray the TB cleaner into the throttle body with the vehicle turned off, that will break up any deposits that are occuring then hose it down lightly with the vehicle on. Run it for a while around the neighborhood and check the TB again.

I am trying to keep her running I love this truck, the guy I bought it off of never did any maintance, so for the last 2 years I have been slowly fixing her back up. I still can not figure out the slight miss at idle, and you can hear a pop in the exhust, not like a back fire, but like when it misses, it makes a sound, sort of like poomp sound, you can only hear it if you are near the exhust

Message: Have you had a reading to see if it's missing? What's the condition of wires and distributor cap? Next time you're out late with your hunny, pop the hood and look for sparks from short's.
Do a compression test. Should be over 135.
Test for a vaccuum leak. With the engine idling, spray a quick shot of starter fluid around the intake gasket. If it speeds-up you got leak.
Never use starter fluid for it's intended purpose.

The plugs, wires, cap + rotor, pickup stator, IAC, TPS and timing chain all new. New water pump, fan clutch and today I was giving the wrong fuel pump, so I took old one out and cleaned the filter good, and sat it in a bucket of gas and turned on the key, at 1st it was a weak stream, and after 2 tries it was a real strong stream. I will try the starter fluid test, and have the compression tested. I have a rough idle, its is staying between 600-800, but you can feel the the shimmy, its like it is wanting to quit, then smooth and back to shimmy. I hope its not a intake leak....I did not know if you saw my post on here about saturday when it totaly quit on me and when I tried to restart, it would barely run and if gave it any gas it would die. I had it towed and I went out to listen for sure if it was the pump, it had sat for 1 hour and It started right up.....

Message: Go to the dealer. Ask to look at a Dakota. Start it and see if it idles like yours. The V6 doesn't idle as smoothly as an inline 6.

Message: Well I have had it on a fuel pressure gage all day, and I have been running it hard at times and regular speed. It is staying between 46-47 PSI. I can not get it to Stall out snice I cleaned the fuel filter sock. My mech told me it could have been so pluged that at times it was sucking the sock up agianst the inlet and cutting off the fuel. and it is what was causing the shut down at speeds over 70 mph for 30+ minutes. It is now running good, still has miss at idle. I am so confused, II have no idea what is causing all this

Message: Well this isn't like Islamo Fascists, where we need "to understand why they want to kill us" it's a truck and it now works.
Don't worry, be happy!
