Subject: Muffler Install IP: Logged
Message: I just got my Delta Flow 40 Series Flowmaster (2 1/2" offset in/center out) yesterday and I have a question about installing it. The Flowmaster is about 20" in total length and the stock muffler is around 30"ish (24" case). For anyone that has installed this setup did you add the additional length of pipe in front of the muffler or after? Does it matter either way? Any other comments on how everyone installed their mufflers is appreciated.
Thanks. Truck is a 2003 3.9 SXT.

Message: Had the same muffler (offset in/out though) installed 10 days ago and the extra pipe was added to the front. Only the rear hangar was used for support. Slight improvement in power but not a noticeable gain in mpg. '00 3.9 4X4 EC

Message: My brother, who owned my Dak before me, had the dealer replace the catcon with OEM. When the exhaust rotted out near the muffler, I bought a Maremont (Arvin) stock, which happens to reach directly to the catcon outlet with no intermediate pipe. It sounds really nice and throaty above 35 mph.
