I see that Gibson makes headers for the 3.9L 2WD 1998 Dakota. I have a 4WD 3.9L 1998 Dakota. Does anybody know if the 2WD headers will fit on the 4WD? If not, what is the difference between the two?

Thanks,
Brian

Headers is headers. The difference with your truck is what is behind the engine.
I installed Gibsons on my 98 3.9. Huge improvement around 2,000 RPM, where the engine lives, although it will pull smartly to red-line, where we spend little time.
You'll experience scary acceleration, for a 6, and better gas mileage.
The Gibson cat-back exhaust/muffler is designed to perform best with the headers. I suggest you get the whole package.
Put AMSOIL products everywhere you can and your truck will be perfectly outfitted.

Ditto on what Shatto said. I have SS headers and SS cat-back. I had a couple of exhaust manifold bolts break on each side and decided it was a perfect opportunity to put on headers. Hacksaw, wrenches and about an hour of my time on the cat-back install. Had the local shop drill out the broken manifold bolts and install the headers for $175.

Where did you find a listing for the Gibson headers? What is the part number.

Found them on Gibson's homepage. Also, Summit racing has them. Here is the info from Gibson:

96-03 3.9L 2WD Chrome GP306
96-03 3.9L 2WD Stainless GP306S
96-03 3.9L 2WD Ceramic GP306S-C

Here's the link for Summit racing:
