Message: just replace it... there easy enough to do... besides that stop leak stuff can create more problems down the road... like a clogged heater core... seen it happen

Message: GM has some pellets they sell. You get like 5 of them for about 5 bucks. My thought is, long as it is already leaking try this fix. nothing to lose. GM untill recient years put those pillets in every car when built. The idea was to stop any small leaks there might be rather then fix them. What I;m saying is. If it didn't plug nothing on millions of chevrolets it should be ok on our trucks. Replacing is always best though.
So many problems. So little time

Message: I should mention. I did read a post once somewhere that these pellits was the same as bars leak pellets at NAPA. I can not conferm this but I do know that bars leak as sold years ago had the capability of pluging heaters. Got no idea if the stuff today is the same thing. Myself,I don't think GM and bars leak are one and the same as Gm practiced using these on every car made for years.

Message: i think the pellets you're refering to are nothing but ginger root. and they are not to stop leaks but aid in corrosion protection of the cooling system. i purchased some from a local Saturn dealer after changing the waterpump, radiator and tstat in my son's '93 SL2. it's recommended by Saturn to add them when servicing the coolant system.

Message: daddio.. You may well be correct.I need to take my own advice better. Most of what you read in these forums is BS That guys inosently beleave as they read it or was told so . only a few guys know what's real and if you really pay attention it's not hard to figure out who. Even at that nobody has all the best ideas but doesn't mean they wont work to some extent at times.I never used these. Only read it as I stated in a post a while back. I don't recall which forum it was on. It sounded like a posible answer. Anyway. new radiator really is the best way.

Message: i agree, new radiator. once upon a time when we had brass radiators it was a no-brainer to have it fixed unless it was FUBAR.
i think GM came up with the pellets to compensate for their Dexcool coolant's shortcoming.
whoever came up with the idea of 150k mile coolant changes oughta be shoot.
