Anybody tow a pop-up camper with a V6 Quad cab 4X4. Looking for some feedback on how the truck handles it.

I'd guess it'd be alright...make sure you got a trans cooler though. Might also wanna get something to help out the rear suspension (not sure how heavy the load would be on the truck). And if you got an auto...I wouldn't tow with overdrive.

i wouldn't think you would have any problems. especially if you have a manual trans. if auto do as Josh says and install an aftermarket tranny cooler.

i used to pull a pop-up with an '83 GMC S-15 i had. no problems at all pulling it. even with the S's mighty (LOL) 110hp 2.8l V6 & 5 spd.

no problems at all... i got a 99 3.9 auto and i had to tow my 98 mustang when the intake gasket blew had it on a full size steel car trailer and towed it over 50 miles from where it broke down and had to deal with hills and towed other things after that from one state to another ranging from 5500lbs to about 3000 lbs.. i really pushed its limit with the weight once but never had any problems and dont have an external trans cooler just added another fan that was electric to keep her runnin cooler when towing....

Pulling a car on a trailer does have a definate difference in aerodynamics than pulling a holiday trailer. I used to pull my 72 Dart to the track and back with no problem at all, but I knew it was behind me. I now pull a holiday trailer that is around the same weight and I sure know its there! The frontal area makes a huge difference when towing. How high is the pop-up camper? If it is low, there shouldn't be a problem as long as it isn't over 5000 lbs.

I tow an old Viking pop-up (weighs about 1400 pounds loaded) with my 2003 Dakota club cab (2wd, 5 spd, 3.55 gear ratio). Typically, I have about 1,000 pounds of firewood and gear in the bed. It loses a little bit of power on steep grades, but overall is ok. Depending how big your pop-up is and how much stuff you bring with you, your truck should be fine.

I towed a 2500lb trailer with 1000+ lbs. in the bed from Cleveland, OH to Seattle, Washington with a '93 extended cab, v-6 auto with 168,000 miles. I did this in a total span of 52 hours, with the longest time the truck was on was 27 hours, stopping for gas. The only mod I made to the truck was a tranny cooler, which pretty much was needed to keep the tranny from frying. Besides going 35 mph up mountains, the truck was great. No problems, got me there safe and sound. MOPAR RULES!!!!
