I had to take my truck to the shop for a trans job. When I got it back it now has a weird vibration that happens between 30 to 45 MPH. After it shifts into OD its cool. I took it back, and they put a different trans, and converter in it, and it still does the same thing. The owner of the shop said it could be the drive shaft or the thing were the two drive shafts connect.
When its doing its vibe thing, if I let off the gas it stops. I'm wondering if its something in the engine. Maybe they could have cut a wire, or pinched a vacume hose or something.
Any ideas, or opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Message: sounds like your carrier bearing isnt aligned if your driveshaft is equipped with one, or they knocked off a driveshaft weight or possibly bent your driveshaft.

Message: I agree with Scott. This might be similar to those guys you see on the side of the road with a large pole hanging or dragging on the ground. ;-) Usually starts out with a rattling noise and vibration during gas acceleration. I've had this happen in a 81' 350 Chevy Blazer. It last a couple of days before your on the side of the road. Under stress, probably sooner.

Message: What and where is this carrier bearing located?
I got out my trusty haynes manual, and it said you should mark the drive shaft when you take it out, so it can be reinstalled in the same relative position to preserve the balance.
I seriously doubt the dudes that did my trans job marked anything.
I hate taking any of my cars, trucks, or bikes anywhere to have work done on them, but transmissions are a little over my head.
Thanks

Message: the carrier bearing is located about about 2.5 feet behind the tranny mounted to a crossmember of the frame pending if your truck is an extended cab or longbed... its a U shapped carrier that holds the driveshaft steady... its there to keep the driveshaft from vibrating at higher speeds due to its length...
