Message: Larry,
Man that's a 35% increase in flow for up to 14 hp interesting. Now if someone would make a HO kit for the 3.7 like they did for the 4.7, that would be great. I think the HO kit adds about 25 to 30 hp to 4.7 v8. A guy on the V8 board (graphitedak) installed this in his Dakota and he posted the installation steps on his web site. In fact he likes the 4.7 so much, he's putting one in a duster. I see where Dodge is coming out with a 4.0 liter v6 with an output of 255 hp for the new Dodge Nitro RT. I sure do like the looks of the Nitro. I was wondering if they will make the 4.0 liter v6 an option on the new fat lipped 2007 Dakotas. Man are those things ugly.
92 and 97 Daks both with many mods.

Message: don't buy the spacer. DCX's 3.7L V6 is literally one of the most stubborn motors on the market today. Can't squeeze hardly any extra HP out of it, and no MPG improvements worth noting.
Keep your money, it's better spent on gas then fuel economy savers. If you want it purely for the power, you'd be better off putting in a CAI. Trust me, you will regret buying that spacer... your mileage will stay exactly the same and you'd be lucky if 2 horses pranced out of it.

Message: Lary is not talking about a spacer. Just about everyone knows that spacers are junk, along with the tornado. He is talking about a TB it self. opening it up so you can get more air in.

Message: I figured since you mentioned Hughes Engines I'd post my question here. I have a 1998 5.2 Dak and am wanting to swap the TB for a true 50mm one, and I know a lot of people recommend the fastman, but I saw the Hughes one for 165. After that I saw that on ebay someone is doing the same thing, and from the pics, it looks just as good as the Hughes.
Does anyone think that this one would be that bad? I would like to keep my stock TB and the one on Ebay is less than the Hughes after you factor in shipping to you, and then shipping your stocker back to them. The ebay one you keep your stock one. The seller's feedback is 100%, so I think he's not a scammer.
Any thoughts?
Ebay TB I want:

The other one which is cheaper but I'm not too sure of:

Message: Oh, the reason I'm not too sure on the other one is because he says he paints it with engine paint. I'm not sure that's a good idea if the paint starts peeling and flaking, and also the other one the shaft is halfed, instead of being narrowed evenly on both sides like the one by 99dart. Would that really make a difference in the stability of the blades? I REALLY don't want something to break off and find its way into the engine, which is why I'm leaning towards the one made by 99dart.

Message: A 50mm throttle body is just to much for the V6
A V8 body has 50mm plates but a 48mm torque step
they help mid and top end but offer no off idle
low end gains
The reason is the intake openings are only 48mm on
the V6 having that step causes some flow problems
The 46mm fastman and the 48mm F&B offer gains
off idle to redline
Opening the intake bores to 50mm on a stock V6
will make the V8 body flow corectly but you will
need to remove the intake take it to a machine
shop and have it bored than bolt on the body
just as it is do not remove the step or it will
drop off idle low end power
By the time you pay for the machining you would
have been farther ahead getting the fastman of
F&B
