Subject: fuel not getting to my motor IP: Logged
Message: Howdy everyone, i ahve a 95 dakota v6 2wd and every now and then the motor cranks but wont turn over. i put gas directly into the head through the throttle body and it fires for about 10 seconds then shuts off. im thinking fuel pump but my dad is thinking wiring for fuel pump. what could it be?

any fuel at the rail?
also turn the key all the way on
listen for the pump,,,
if the pump has never been changed more then likely the cause, whats the milage at?
their life is genaeraly 100,000

Message: I turned the key forward a few times and we didn't hear anything, but about an hour later it came on.
my truck has about 147,000 miles. but im not sure if it was replaced.
Joe, you think it could be electrical going to the pump?

Message: its inside the tank,
check autozone.com or advanceautoparts.com
usually right around $165. - $175
however NAPA is a few bucks more
but is a far better unit!
and dam if thats the original pump you lucked out Chris,
2 ways to change the pump remove bed and slide it back a bit
or drop the tank,
you want to make 100% sure first
check for fuel at the fuel rail
if your getting any fuel at all
put a regulator on it you want just about 45 psi

Message: i'll check into it but i was leaving work and it wouldnt start so i got under the truck and wiggled the tank and the wires by the tank and it fired over. im going to say wiring is bad.

the hood
But with that many niles most likly the pump

Message: since the last time it didnt start, i havent had any problems after wiggling the wires from the tank.

luck went your way!
just a heads up, when the pumps do let go
there is usally no warning,
i got stuck roadside allmost 60 miles from home
when mine crapped out @ 110,000 miles
never missed a beat - never made a noise prior
just keep that in mind
