Subject: Oil Loss In 3.9L '90 Dakota IP: Logged
Message: Hi, guys (and gals)! My question is this:
Why would my engine suddenly start hemorraghing oil like there's no tomorrow? I'm talking nearly the panful in a few miles! It was running great and then started doing this. Because I work in a back-wood area, I had to drive it dry for a few miles before I could shut it down. Needless to say, it was rattling when I did.
I'm getting a used '91 engine put in, and asked that the front & rear main seals be replaced. Hopefully, the "new" engine will last for a good while.

Message: Either it had a hole in it or it had a hole in it. Either way, it had a hole in it.

Message: Also, if your PCV plugged up (from lack of changing it) You would develope considerable back presure in the crankcase. The oil well come out anywhere the presure is able to force it's way out. If this was infact the case you could have pulled it out of the engine valve cover and drove to the first available parts house.
So many problems .... so little time
