Subject: Cat - High Flow Cat - No Cat IP: Logged
Message: ok here we go i can touch on all 3 first hand
first the truck is a 94 3.9
mods are, TPS, AIT, CPS, black magic elec fan,
180 (fail safe)T stat, cold air block off plate removed K&N drop in, brass cap roto 8MM wires
NGK V power plugs Dyno max super turbo
Cloyes timing chain / mopar tensioner
& now a Thunder Bolt high flow Cat
running the stock cat with the dynomax
i noticed a bit of differance,
about 4 weeks ago i cut the cat out
(just to see what changed if anything)
ran a straight pipe in place of it,
right away i noticed a huge loss in bottom end
over the weeks a loss (yes) MPG's dropped
leaving a light the truck was weak
slight increase in exhaust note
Fumes! ehhh sh*t wont even talk there
ok, 3 days ago put the thunderbolt in!
"nice" more bottom end then it ever had
and if it changed the exhaust note i sure cant tell, a trip into town and back (where i used 1/8 while the cat was out)
now the gauge barely moves
exhaust fumes? (wow, like none)
the truck is pulling nice all the way to 4 thou.
(course its only but dyno) however owned the truck for allmost 7 yrs. so yea i'm going to notice the slightest differance bad or good,
so anyway thought to pass this along
seen so many posts asking cat/no cat
and guys saying gutting it was best
dont know about your truck but
it sure didnt help mine,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Message: The comp was setup to run with a cat and will
perform best with one
carsound highflow at truckperformance.com the
price $69 or $89
Get more air and fuel in there either a V8 or
fastman 46mm, F&B 48mm and the 1.7 rockers
You can also get a performance computer for the
93 summitracing.com put DCC-5249521 in the search
under $300
Than you will see some very nice performance and
better gas mileage
