Subject: engine stall IP: Logged
Message: I have a 1999 dakota.. It will give a few hard jerks and die....Usually after a little ccoaxing I can get it to restart, but this last time no go. It will turn over, but doen't seem to be getting any fire..Any ideal how to pull the read the code from it without a code reader..Just had the crank, push rods, oil pump andtiming gear and chain/belt replaced.. my e-mail is zipnab@bellsouth.net
any help would be appericated as i am cash strapped...

Message: you can only read a code if the check engine light is on. with the 1999 model year, when you turn the key on off on off on the code will be a digital read out in your odometer. it should be a P#### and after all the codes are displayed i think it says PDONE. hope that helps

Message: a few hard jerks then stall.... maybe ya got a bad fuel pump.... check for fuel pressure at the fuel rail on the left side at the valve

Message: Thanks...Just checked on the price for one...218 pluse tax.
Was wondering...Iwas working on it today and poured some gas into the throttle body and it fired up. I let it idle for like 20 minutes. Could it stil be the fuel pump?
