Message: you are of the IAT mod. the CPS mod is just that elongating the holes with a drill bit so you can move it.

Message: removing it from the intake, replace it with a 1/4 npt pipe plug
drill a hole in the cold air induction tube and screw it in there
you'll have to splice in a length of wire for each making it long enough so you can plug it in

Message: I seriously think you need to leave your truck alone. You may be cutting and grinding something that you have no idea of what you are doing it to. Or take it to someone who knows something about these simple mods.

seriuosly i agree with bludak
if your that lost turn around and go back!
i can see if you needed more help with what the sensor looked like or exactly where it was located. but you barely got out the front door before you lost your way.

Message: if you have an aftermarket C(cold)A(air)I(intake), i.e. K & N, the intake tube runs from the filter to the Throttle body. you would remove the IAT(intake air temp) sensor form the intake manifold on the engine and move it into the intake tube.
my truck did not like this. all it did for me was burn more gas and no performance gain. you can try it if you like because you can always return it back to the stock location.

Message: remove sensor remove ruber grmit from hole
slot bolt hols on sensor 3/8 and move down
towards oil filter
this will give you aprox 3 to 4 degree advance
help across the entire rpm range but most
noticeable will be low end and better gas mileage
The performance obd1 comp runs 8 degree advance
and better fuel maps
on the obd2 if you look at mopar mucle mag online
they used a race icon advanced the timming 9
degrees on a dak that just shows you how weak
these trucks are in the timming

Message: Larry, I was reading on some sites that post power secrets for the Dakota, do not recommend the crankshaft sensor mod and that you would have to scan the computer and do other changes to make the mod work properly. They did not recommend this mod at all. I tried it on my Dakota (2000) and really couldn't tell the difference. Do you know why they would state this? I see that the trick did come from the KRC website.
