I was wondering if it was posible to put an early 3.9 carb/intake manifold and dis. on a late 3.9. 93 and up ,thanks for any info, Gray

yes,but its not a direct exchange,you,ll have to drill and tap heads and some wiring
but why would you want too?

I want to put a late engine and nv3500 in my 60 wilys wagon , but I dont want the hasel of all the computer stuff, I have been doing a lot of reserch on the dak, and have found nothing on engine convertions, which is areal shame because I think the are terific engines , My father has a 93 DD sport, and I remember the day it was new. now it has 150K and its still awsome, It's never been in the shop!! I called painless wiring and it was pianful the respnce they gave me, Mopar dosent want anybody doing engine swaps,and that is why I will just do a carb insted, thanks for the reply, would you have any other advice to give vern? Thanks Gray.

if you use a 88-94/95 trans you,ll have the o/d without all the wiring issues that go with the 96up trans have
DC do have a M1 4 barrel carb intake for the premag 3.9 i don,t have the part #,put they are out there i,ve seen them for sale,check some of the mopar sites Moparts.com,Alpar.com,dakotatrucks.com etc i was one on 1 of the sites in the pass month for sale
or use a 87 3.9 2 barrel carb intake
DC also made a electronic dist conversion,hard to find,maybe one of the performance dealers may have some old stock,you can build one with a little work,i did one serveral yrs back with and 318 dist and wiring,changed out the relutor to a slanted 6,[they say this won,t work]but it did and i still have the truck now that runs,just rusted some good parts truck

Thanks for the reply Vern, I just found a compleet 1992 Dak with 95K on it its a V6 with five speed. nice truck, I am going to take the wiring ,engine and Trans out of it. the truck is from forida and is rust free with a new blue paint job its really nice if you or someone you know wants to buy it, I will let it go for $500 , I can send picks if you like. I'm in CT, thanks again.Gray

you guys do know who produces the engine right? and its sad to hear it being such a avid dodge fan, mitsubishi makes them. but i have a 94 dak with 211,000 on it and i just recently encountered a small vacum leak so no complaints from me

turner, the 3.9 is a DC designed and manufactured engine. what makes you think mitsu makes them?

mitsubishi did produce a v6 in the late 80s and early 90s that was use in the grand caravans and other dodge and chrysler minivans. it was never used in a dakota. the pre mag and mag 3.9 v6 is and has always been a dc motor.
GET IN, SIT DOWN, SHUTUP, AND HOLD ON
