Subject: what a diff. ! IP: Logged
Message: 2 weeks ago did the chain and tensioner
(94 3.9 - 121,000 miles)
the chain was so slack you could allmost get the sides to touch in the middle (mentioned this in an earlier post)
did the water pump hoses and T-stat while i was in there (180 fail safe)
here's what i noticed right away
alot quieter thats for sure
T-stat keeps tripping code
(engine running cold for extended period of time)
used the old school trick
cardboard in front of the rad. for now
after 200 miles or so a noticable
change in performance and smooth acceleration
then i remembered doing the CPS mod.
and had to put it back because it only made the pinging worst so i decided now with the new chain/tens. i'd try it again
now with 500 or so miles after the chain
it's like a new engine!
dam well worth the time and money guys
tens. was only $41. at the nearest dealer
and chain (cloyes) couldnt find a double roller in stock anywhere and had 2 days to
do it the following day so just went with a standard (Cloyes) chain but hey atleast i got the brand i wanted right? ($49.)
ok next exhaust
i have a thunderbolt high flow cat on the way
and soon replacing exhaust
undecided if i will go with another dynomax
or flowmaster (got one sitting in the shead i bought like 5 yrs' ago) it's a 3 chamber is all i remember i'm going to get part# and look it up when i can.....
anyway just figured i'd pass this all along
