Message: I have a 2002 Quadcab, and I got an MIL the other day, checked it, and it is a P0455....possible loose
or faulty gas cap. How do I clear the code?
Also, it seems that the truck shifts a little funny, downshifts a lot, and has a funny feel to it. Is this the torque converter or typical of a 6 cylinder motor pulling this size vehicle

Message: wait for it to go away on its own - or disconnect battery and step on brakes or put headlights on (putting an electrical load on the system) for 20 seconds. reconnect and the light will be out. it will come on shortly after if you didn't fix the problem. if that happens and you know the cap was tight - go get a new one.

Message: The explanation I found was that it might be the gas cap, it could also be some leak in the emmission system/.....Is that serious and should I continue driving the truck???

Message: It's not serious Scott. Best bet is try the gas cap first. Buy a new one (NOT FROM THE DEALER) and put it on. Clear the code by disconnecting the negative battery cable for a few minutes. If it is the O2 sensor, it's not going to hurt anything for awhile. Eventually, your gas mileage will start to suck more if it is the sensor, but with my experience with these codes, it's the gas cap. It's the cheapest way to check it.

Message: That is great news!!! How about the way the truck shifts? Any ideas about whether it is normal or not? It seems to downshift a lot.
