So driving a 1999 Dakota club cab with a v6 and a 5speed tranny. about a month ago started having some wierd problems. The speedo decided it would work when it wanted to, the abs and park brake light came on and stayed on all the time, and if your in 2nd gear and come to a stop with the clutch in it dies. also if you take it out of gear in 1st or 3rd it goes down to 650 rpm and comes back up to 1000. any ideas what in the.....?

ABS light, park brake light and speedo is a bad speed sensor...dunno bout the dying/low rpm issues...possibly just a dirty IAC on the back of the throttle body?

My Dakota was doing the samething. Mine is a '97 with a 5speed. it would die when i would steadily go to a stop. And when the winter came and it got colder (below 40) it wouldn't run for no more than 3-4 miles. So i had it hooked it up to a scanner and it turned out to being the Crank Shaft Positioning Sensor of all things! I got the part at Advance for $96 and took 10 minutes to replace.
