i have a 99 4x4 dakota with a 3.9 and i know of a 4.7 jeep motar and trany that i could get my had on. would it work and mount up on my 1999 ok or not i'm just woundering?

3.9's are v6 not v8's, 318's are your V8's and if you have the 318 then dont swap for the 4.7 you can beef up the 318's, they are too hard to explode

Casey, this IS the V6 board, he said he wants to replace his 3.9 with a 4.7. Its not that hard to understand, besides he never mentioned a 318.
Keith, first up, I dont think the motor mounts are the same. Also you will have to get the computer and wireing harness with the engine. If you can make motor mounts and possibly a tranny mount. I dont think it would really be that difficult.

Stick with the 5.2/5.9 family. The 4.7 would be more than just a little extra work even if you have a lot of experience.

Also first year for 4.7 in a Dak was '00, so no correct '99 PCM for that combo.

thanks for the insite i didn't think it would just bolt right in i. i was just offered the 4.7 and was curies if it would work i new that the 4.7 didn't come out till 2000. but thanks anyway.
