Look for a 318 on ebay, they are cheap. If you live near baltimore a junkyard called crazy ray's sells them for $150.

I've got a '91 Dakota 4X4 with a 3.9L, automatic trans, and some wiring issues that I'd like to get rid of.
I got he truck pretty cheap because it didn't have tires and had a "small wiring problem". That was about 14 months ago, and I've been chasing wiring gremlins, every couple of months, ever since.
This truck isn't high priority for me, so I don't care to dump any more money into it.
The engine was a strong runner until the last wiring issue caused me to park it.
It was rebuilt about 20,000 miles ago (also at about 150,000 miles, by-the-way) by the previous owner.
The transmission is also strong and reliable.
That's about it though. The transfercase is going out fast, and the rear axle needs to be rebuilt.
Even if I could find the info I need to redo the wiring harness, it couldn't be driven without a fair share of money going into it.
The body also suffers from southwestern Wisconsin rust. The cab's not the worst I've seen, but it looks like a "beater", non-the-less.
Anybody interested in helping me recoup some of my investment?
