Message: Yes it can effect the trans but more than likly
on the 98 its the presure sensor and sol on the
valve body
Go to auto zone get a free scan and have them
look at the map and TPS functions
TPS low volts hit throttle it goes up but always
returns to same low volts .5 to .7
MAP key on not running 4.8 volts running around
1.2 and rises when reved up

Message: No sure if a 98 has this ...but I had same issue...code said output speed sensor on tranny...I replaced it and I'm back in business.
