Go for it they are great little trucks
The only issues on the 99 was 2 sensors that act
up in the trans if it shifts ok don't worrie about
it they cost $200 to replace
There are also many mods you can do to increase
performance and fuel economy

Had pickups and vans for years then got away from them. Drove a '90 Dodge Spirit 2.5 Turbo 5 speed for years, loved it. Then thought a '95 Dodge Avenger 2.0, 5 speed was what I needed. Couldn,t get in or out of a driveway, more of a pain than fun to drive. I was tired of FWD, geez give me a RWD! Now I've got a 2003 Quad Cab, 2 wheel drive and I love it. Great looks, handles nice, V6, 5 speed with enough pep and it still looks great with a half yard of fertilizer in the bed. Do that in a Camero.
You can go as mild or wild as you want and It'll still look good. Into NASCAR, look up the truck series. Want a low rider...you get the picture. Pick up some magazines and get ideas.
The S-10 and Ranger are to small and full size is to big. If you want performance the Dakota has it.

I bought my 2000 dak. 2 years ago with 70,000 miles on it, it's got 110,000 on it now, Never had a problem with it, until i fell asleep and hit a Jeep. 3k to fix and runs perfect again. Bigger than S10's and Ranger, If your lookin for power, The 6cylinder Dak. beats all stock Small Trucks Except Chevy Extreme. (even then it's a good race) Lots of mods, to boast these nice looking trucks up.
