Driving down the road today the truck RPM's dropped to 0 and then back up at 1,500-2,000rpm then back done to 0 back up. it did this 4 times in a row going down the highway also everytime the rpms hit 0 the Check Engine light came on too then it would go off once the rpms went back up. I pulled it over and opened the hood Oil,Tranny and coolant level was OK. Before i even open my hood a noticed coolant along the side of my truck where the overflow tank is. The coolant was also all over the right side on the engine compartment The temp gauge was at 180 when this happened it never went over 210. Any Ideas

SuperKota,

I really don't have too good of an idea that works for you, but just wondered how the two were related. that is, if you have a problem within the coolant system, why/how would that affect the engine RPMs. I am sure you have thought of this prior to this here mention, but for me I did't see a correlation when I read your post?

Maybe you could describe a little more about it, maybe some more specifics. I actually had ( within the last 48 HRs ) the same or very similar problem. It was the Automatic Idle Speed motor on mine. But mine is a 1989. I think it is called a IAC or Idle Automatic Control something or other, on the new vehicles. But I have also had this same problem before ( 2 years earlier ) if was a fouled up fuel injector and fuel filter. Off-hand thats as much as I know. Post more if need be.
