Message: Has anyone had to change out the valve body? I'm having some shifting issues & am wondering what the symptoms are if this part is the problem. Anyone have an idea what the cost is to replace it? I have a 98 dakota sport,3.9 auto with 81,000 miles on it. Does this entail a complete rebuild?

Message: Never heard of that stuff. What is it? I'm wary of transmission additives.

Message: You can get the Lubegard "Red" that mavvdak98 mentioned at most any NAPA store. They sell it in their "Balkamp" line. Lubegard has several different additives; they'e identified by bottle color. The red bottle is the one you'd buy. I've used it before and it is completely safe-- for example, it doesnt't thicken the fluid like others (Lucas).
But, why not try the Lubegard (or Seafoam "Trans Tune"- also safe) and then do a filter and fluid change with a band adjustment?

Message: I replaced the speed sensor, & it shifts a little better. I want to change the tranny control solenoid but the dodge parts dept. told me that it's inside the valve body. True? There is also what appears to be another sensor{?} located just above the transmission pan. Anybody know what it's for or know what the part name is? I added the lube gard, didn't do much good. Thanx for you're help.

Message: I started out by calling several local tranny shops and asked How much would it cost to have a shift kit installed. the first 2 shops said What's that. I said oh my mistake, have a great day. I finally found a tranny shop that new exactly what I was talking about and I ended up having them do the work. It ran my $370 for the work and the kit.
