Message: Could be a rist pin. Our ford tempo did that. When you drive be ready to hit the clutch or put it in nuetral.

Message: Hey I have an '89 Dakota that just started doing the same exact thing. I haven't noticed any powerloss though, not that it had much power to begin with. A mechanic I trust told me it could be a lifter, or a worn out cam.

Message: well i was pokin aroun trying to find it and i found it in the drivers side valve casing, so it was a valve, and tried looking in through the oil cap and then started it back up and went away, so oh well
no more problem, if it does it again ill prolly take it in to get adjusted

Message: Well thats weird, I did just about the same thing. I opened the oil cap to show a friend it sounded like it was coming from under the valve cover, it was still clicking like before. Then I drove around for about 45 minutes bumping my beats =) thats the longest I've drove it since it started clicking. Anyways I went to a friends for a couple hours then left. As I started the truck, while switching CD's I noticed it was quite again!! man was I shocked, no more clicking as of this morning!! so 165,789 and still going!
