I was interested in purchasing a Superchip (3715) for my 3.9L 2000 Dakota. I've read many posts on here and it seems to be a pretty nice investment, supported by other mods. I'm now looking for a reputable place to buy the chip, and any comments on the performance gain (especially gas mileage). I’ve seen the Chip in group buys for $290, but now all I can find are $400 or so.

I was also wondering if a used superchip with model #3715 would be okay, or if the older version needs to be sent back to the company for an “update” or something. Any help would be great guys

The Superchips tuner is the BEST mod I have done to my truck. It made all the difference in the world. I Dynoed my truck while it was on the 87 Octane setting and it picked up 18 ft/lbs tq. and a few HP. The 91 Octane performance setting will increase the HP and TQ even more significantly. Gas mileage increased noticeably, too (I'll tell you how much in a few days when I run this next tank of gas down).
I bought mine at www.truckaddons.com It was $299 plus $12 shipping. Best deal I could find on the Internet.
As for buying a used tuner, you have to make sure that whoever had the tuner last, unistalled the Superchip program completely from their truck. The tuners are VIN specific, meaning they only work on one truck and are then locked. Once uninstalled, the tuner is unlocked and can be used on another truck. Just be careful and know who you are buying from if you get a used Superchips.
