 Subject: Transmission Trouble

99 Dak v6 3.9 Automatic
Just out of the blue my transmission starts moving when I start out but doesn't engage in 2nd gear. Feels like its okay when starting out. I would call this slipping but it want grab even when the rpms increase. I can only reach about 10 mph or less. Check engine light did not come on but I checked codes anyway and no codes were found. I changed fluid but no change. Before I take to a mechanic any ideas or does this sound like bands or a gear. Could the torque converter be bad. Would I be better off cost wise putting in a used tranny and rebuilding my current tranny. Are the rebuild kits going to have everything you need for a successful rebuild. Weekend warrior on keeping this thing going. Thanks in advance!
