Subject: Dodge Dakota Stalls in reverse when cold IP: Logged
Message: At normal operating temp., my 2001 4WD, 3.9l Dodge Dakota operates fine, however, at cooler temps. when I put the machine in reverse (if I don't allow warm up...15-20 mins.) the thing will stall. Forward operation don't ack this way.
Any idea as to what my problem may be????

But if it were mine, I'd start by changing transmission filter, and fluid to synthetic.
And adjust the bands while your in/under there.
That should rule out the trans as bogging down the engine in reverse.

Message: could be part of the ignition system. I just had my distributor pickup replaced and the guys at the shop told me that weak ignition components are a common cause of problems with a cold engine.
good idea to change the the fluid/filter. Be sure to check it with the engine running at idle in neutral.
