Because the v-6 is 800 Ibs. lighter and has more power per cubic inch. Only way to get those cubic inches working for you is to put money where it needs it.

I'll add they get the same milage!!! 4.7 is a little better 5.9 is a little worse!!! The way I drive I get like 11 or 12 mpg becuase I do no highway driving what so ever....I thought something was wrong until I drove to North carolina between 50 and 65 mph and got 21.5!!!! and on the way back going 75-85(up to 105 for a sec)got like 16 to 18 mpg. If I was going that speed in a V8 I would have done better. and I think intake and exhaust hurt my mpg if anything

How much do it cost you guys and gals for gas?
I filled my new 2002 SXT for the first time and figured some of it out:
less than 1/8 of a tank left
put in 66.68 litres at 58.5 cents a litre=39.00
canadian dollars.
Used 39 dollars and travelled 400 kilometers (250 miles).Does 16.67litres per 100 km sound right?

i don't know any of that canadian stuff but my 98 gets about 18-19 mpg in the city....without the using the juice of course....so i don't get 18-19 mpg often.;)

I get more than that - are you a V6? I filled up on Wed. night - and drove to Toronto and back (roughly 200 miles, I drove around a little while there). Then to Lakefield and back (40 miles). I still had half a tank left. Soooo, half a tank, around $20 to go 280 miles.

Checked my fuel comsumption guide and it says 13.1 litres per 100kms for in city driving 11.4 for the highway.

on the highway i get 25-26 mpg. good thing too because i have the "huge" 15 gallon gas tank....and the fuel light comes on when i still have 3 gallons left!

That's why I only get 16mpg: IntenseDak39 is sneaking up behind me and latching a towbar to my truck so I can drag him around. That would explain him getting 25-26mpg too ;)

I get about 15 mpg in the city, I don't drive on the highway very much, so I don't know how much I get then. I have a 18 gal tank and I can go about 270 mile on it. If I kept my foot out of the gas I could probably get about 16 or 17 mpg in the city. Maybe I will have to find another grey dak to hook up to :)

I get around 18 in the winter, but during the summer they break out that reformulated crap and I drop to 16 or less. One of my neighbors worked for the EPA until recently and told me that the jury's out whether it's even beneficial. WTF??

ok u v6 guy i know that Bernd gut is your hero! WOW a pillar to the v6 people 14.6 and how much $ did he pour into his truck. But at the same time u say a v8 is to expensive. U Hypocrites! Isnt a v8 like a 800 dollar option? My 93 was 11,000 brand new and ran 14.8 out of the box. Ok so u gays o sorry guys pour hundreds of dollars (bernd thousands) to say u can beat a v8 what a stock one lol u crack me up. And most of u cant even say that!

Yeh, Bernds truck is fast FOR A V6 but he is still about a second from hanging with ME (V8). Give credit where credit is due his truck is fast. His new turbo setup is making me nervous, he might beet the almighty V8 if he keeps it up. Good thing he is the ONLY V6 Dak we have to wory about.
I love this Board; always a contraversy.........

wow, 11,000 in 93......compare a V8 NEW sticker price and it cost thousands less than i have put into my truck including the purchase price......most of my money goes to the looks not the speed...
93v8Dak most of thought he was the most clever person and get on the V6 forum....good job....no one thought of it before!
