Message: Hey all. No luck checking the archives anymore, I guess I'll just have to suscribe.
This moring I went to start my Dakota and immediately my engine started and idled at 1800 RPMs. When cold it idles at 1000 RPMs, which it was, and then gradually drops from there with the rising engine temp. But this time it got stuck or something. Has this happened to any one here? It or the computer reved the RPMs to almost 2000 and didn't let it starve so I killed the engine. On the next start up it went back to normal idling behavior. Any experience on this would help. I am going to check the manual, probably or hopefully its just some thing simple like lube.

Message: Check you IAC. It sounds like its dieing.
A friends car at one point reved itself to 6,000 rpm and the problem was a bad iac.
Other then that check for the simple stuff such as vaccuum leaks, sticking throttle, or cruise control(check to make sure the cable going to cruise has a little slack).
