Subject: running bad after accident IP: Logged
Message: I was in an accident beginning of october. some lady ran a red light and I t-boned her. I saw her coming and just about had the truck stopped but still clipped her. the truck was driveable after the accident, airbags did not deploy. Ever since the accident the truck runs bad. Insurance adjuster says nothing would have affected anything mechanical on the truck and even the place that fixed it up said everything runs normal. they think I'm just overly paranoid now cause of looking for problems because of the accident. Could the jolt of hitting her cause any sensors to go bad? No codes are displayed and there was nothing up front that was damaged that would cause engine trouble. Aside from the accident, i have noticed the breather tube that goes to the air hat is cracked right at the bend where it goes in to the hat. Would that cause any vac. leak? It's just a vent right? The truck does not want to come down to normal idle when I accelerate and decelerate to shift gears. So when i get to the next gear it's jerking like it wants to take off. Plugs are nearly new yet with about 9,000 miles on them. I ran seafoam about 2 months ago as preventive maintenance. Isn't there a way to display codes on the digital odometers? I've got 2002 3.9 5spd. Also i have performance wires on and brass cap and rotor with K&N drop in and flowmaster 50 series. It acts exactly like if you would adjust your tps sensor and drive it without learning the computer. Any ideas on this let me know. thanks

Message: Sometime stupid, but have you checked the transmission fluid level? Be sure to do it in neutral with the parking brake applied.

Message: No actually I have not done that. I even did the differential recently but never thought of the trans. Where should the level be at. Guess cause it's a manual it just didn't dawn on me. For future reference, what weight goes in there? Also, I found something that might be the big cause. The wires that I thought were "performance" wires (JBA wires) must be crap. My coil wire is arcing in like 3 different places on the valve cover. I checked last night when it got dark. The one spot it's almost like a 1 inch section of wire with a blue like glow to it. Wires are about 2 years old maybe and in visually good shape. Would wire loom stop the arc?

Message: Does it idle higher all the time, or just when you accel/decel? Tranny lube is 75W90 in mine, but it might be a lighter grade in yours. What all got damaged during the accident?
If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

Message: so then the same weight oil goes in the tranny as the differential. Dealer told me 75/90 with anti slip additive for differential. Do I just add to the tranny till it comes out the filler hole. And there is only one type of bolt type plug on the side so i'm assuming that's where you put it in. I'll check out the bulletin but they are not factory wires so the lengths and all were different. Damage wise- repaired hood, replaced grill, repaired left fender, new headlight assembly, straighten left frame rail, new bumper support, new cover, new left fog light, whole hood and both fenders recleared to match the paint up cause they blended in. It looks good!!
I moved that coil wire, seems better, was idling high from letting off after accelerating before shifting into next gear.

Message: I take it from the bulletin that you just want to make sure that the coil wire doesn't cross any other wires. What about the other wires running parralell with eachother to the plugs. Theres almost no way you can seperate them so they don't touch

Message: just buy wire separators or wire looms (small plastic parts) for couple of $$ in almost any automotive store.
