My gas mileage has been dropping recently to about 13-14 mpg in the city and highway, it doesnt matter. when I first got the truck I was getting 18 on the highway and about 16 in the city. Any ideas on what could the issue might be and any solutions?

Yea the exact same crap is happening to me now too.I was averaging almost 18 and now I average around 15.5 I have replaced my cap and rotor, wires, T-Stat, Plugs, Coil, Air Filter, Plenum Gasket, Intake Manifold Gaskets, O2 Sensor and yet with in the last 5k. O2 Sensor and the gaskets were done within the last few hundred miles. Wires T-Stat and Coil done with in the last 1500 mi. I dont get it. I done things thinking they would help and all of a sudden mileage goes down. It's a little more peppy but thats it.

Adam and SuperKota and NathanKing. If you have changed to a 180 t-stat or lower, that may have caused your decline in MPG. Our trucks run off of PCM presets until it reachs the minumum operating temperature of about 160-165 degrees. If your temp doesn't get this high, OR your coolant temperature sensor is faulty, your truck will never go into closed loop operation. This means that the engine will be burning more fuel, which is the PCM's preset(open loop) during initial startup(warms engine faster), instead of running off of the sensors(closed loop).

If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

Everything on the truck is original when the decline started to happen. The only thing I have changed was the spark plugs. It runs a little smoother but still bad gas milage.
