Subject: 180 Thermostat runs about 170

Message:
Does anyone know how accurate our temp gauges are? I put in a 180 thermostat a couple of months ago, and the gauge says it's running about 170 after being warmed up. I replaced the temperature sensors too, so they should be ok. I think it was a motorad thermostat from oreilly's. Let me know if you think I should go to the next higher thermostat, or if it won't even make a difference. I originally had a 195. I'm just trying to get a compromise between the best mileage, and smoothest running.

Get someone with scanner check the temp. Either your thermostat is defective or possibly the thermostat sensor is bad. If the thermostat is defective replace it with a good quality like a super stant, Napa makes a good thermostat for about 10 to 12 dollars.

92 and 97 Daks both with many mods.
