I have a 99 3.9 and at idle i can feel one (or maybe two??) of the cylinders miss-firing. I've tried putting new plugs, wires, cap and rotor and it still does it. Is it the distributor maybe or something else. Any advice is helpful. Thanks.

Are you getting a code? Usually they will throw a code and you are able to pin point it better that way. Does it just do it at idle or through all RPM's? Do you have all your wires attached correctly? I know that's stupid but would obviously make a difference and it's easy to get things mixed up once the cap is off. How many miles are on it? Do you put fuel injector cleaner in every once in a while?

it only does it at idle at about 750rpms but even if i give it just a little gas, say up to 1000 it runs smooth. I haven't gotton a code read yet but Autozone does it for free, correct? I'm positive that i put the wires on in the same orders, and triple checked that the boots were snapped onto the spark plug and also onto the cap. Also, i put the new rotor on just the same way as the old one came off. I've ran fuel injector cleaner multiple times, put Seafoam in the gas tank and even put Seafoam right through the throttle body, but to no avail. I'll try the codes and see where that gets me. Thanks much!

You might have a partially clogged injector, if it only happens at idle(the pulse width on the injectors is very narrow, and with a clogged injector, you might not be getting enough fuel). Autozone pulls codes for free, as well as Advance.

If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.
