Message: Last November, I added an ARE fiberglass tonneau cover. I have a 2001 3.9 4x4 CC SLT. It helped maybe 1-2 MPG but that is a big maybe, sometimes it is better, sometimes it is the same as it was before the cover. I got it more for looks and to keep my stuff back there safe and dry. I highly recommend the ARE cover. I did not want a soft cover as I have seen those after a good rain and no matter how many slats, after a while there will be puddles. The ARE doesn't really weigh enough to slow you down. I think it only weighs 100-200 pounds if that. Pics of it on my website.

Message: i have the leer hard tonneau cover and i got it basically for the same reason bill did for the looks and to keep my stuff safe and the rain off of it. mine isnt enough to slow me down maybe 50-100lbs and i would recommend a hard tonneau than the soft......may cost a lot more but in the long run it is worth it seeing how soft covers are a pain when its cold they shrink and rip. so spend the money and get the hard tonneau!!
plus they look better!

Message: that's not entirely true about them being hard to put on... many of the soft tonnos have adjustable snaps for summer and winter. i had mine through summer and winter and the only hard time to put it on was when i first got it. i am not trying to persuade you ll blackdak but just throwing in some info.

Message: I agree with you that they cost a lot, but I have never regretted spending the money on my ARE. It keeps all of my stuff out of the elements and it looks good. I highly recommend the ARE!

If you look on there, you can find a 20 dollar off coupon that you can printout and give to your local dealer. Mine honored it. Every little bit helps when you are spending that kind of dough!

Message: My cover was about $650 out the door (incl. taxes, etc). You will need to find a local dealer (you can do that on the website) so that they can install it for you. It isn't that tough, but I think they like to ship to dealers who know what they are doing. Also, if you were to have a problem, you could go to the dealer and try and see if it was under warranty. Might have a tougher time getting it fixed for free if you installed it yourself. The price has been well worth it!
