I've got a 96 Dakota with a V6, and auto trans. Sometimes while driving between 10 to 15 MPH the trans erratically shifts back and forth from 1st to 2nd gear. Seems it cant decide which gear it wants to be in. Think a fluid, filter, and band adjustment wood straighten this out?

Thanks,
Wood

Cant hert

I would also advance your TV cable 1 click

some 96 had the button type push in with screw
driver and pull cable housing back

other one they used was the clip type just take
your finger on bottom thumb on top and open the
clip both sides nad slide off move cable housing
back and reinstall clip by just pushing on it
will click and lock

disconect the cable from linkage its a disc just
push back and it will pop off goes on same way
just push on.

sounds like a little ware in the cable or lever
or plunger in trans moving this 1 click will solve
the problem

note location how far the tip of the cable is
sticking out behond the adjuster box before
moving so you can see 1 click is .100 about
a 1/8 inch

try that but a change is also a good idea
chrysler ATF +3 +4
Amsoil synthetic or
Redline

no cheap fluids or dextron

Thanks Larry. I never thought of that. After reading your post I looked through the book, and sure enough there it was.

Going to give it a shot when or if it ever stops raining here in Palm Coast.

Thanks Again,
Wood
