Subject: Where is the PCV valve?
IP: Logged

Message:
I was at the old oil change place and they said my PCV valve was inaccessable? I said "thats funny because a few months ago you said you changed it and chared my $10". He said it must have been somewhere else I said ok whatever you ripped me off, and left it at that. So where is the PCV valve? So I can actually change it. Thanks

report that shop. thats a rip off.

its on your left valve cover(if your facing the truck and standing in front of the radiator)

its right in the middle of it twords the back a little. has a tube connected to it.

it slips in and out.

Mines a 97 and it's on the right too, and it may just slip off, but that rubber grommet can make it a b*tch and a half to put it back in:)

If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

Sorry about that it is a 99 3.9L Reg cab. What color is the PCV valve blue, and the hose it is connected to is black? or what? It is fairly simply to change right? Thanks

And if you want

Check my truck out or atleast my truck page background

Better to define it as 'passenger side' valve cover (at least on early 90s), or 'driver's side', rather than left or right. Left is usually understood to be driver's side, right is passenger side.

didnt feel it neccessary KJS.

1. the PCV is a common thing to replace,at any tune up its done. so there is no way it was inaccessable.

2. hes posting in the v6 forum. a very limited aray of engines he could have had.

3. it should be right where I said it is(read:passenger side if your facing the radiator its left. was keeping it in laymans term)

4. he may have been in a hurry and not able to wait for a tag and go post. the PCV valve can cause some funny problems afterall...

and yes its very easy to change, just slips in and out. if its been a while since it was changed its prolly a little stiff. if it rattles its generally still good.
if yours is blue then thats it, most aftermarket is bluecolored caps.

p.s.- thanks for the thought KJS but next time think about it harder.

Actually I'm with KJS here, mine is on the right or driverside valve cover just behind(closer to firewall) the oil filler cap.

If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.
