Message: Does anyone have glasspacks on their V6? If anyone has these on their truck, what brand is it and about how much do they cost? Can I just cut out my single in dual out Flowmaster and replace it with a glasspack? I have a Flowmaster 40 on my truck and I like it, but it gets a little too ricey between 2000-3000 RPMs. I have a friend who has glasspacks on his S-10 4.3L and it sounds alot better and it never gets a ricey sound to it.

Message: it sounds different because it's on a bigger motor.
i had a dynomax bullet glasspack, and it sounded worse than the flowmaster 40 series.

Message: I also have a V6 Dakota and i also have the 40 series flowmaster, but i have turn down's on the muffler right. right where they exit i put two turn downs. alot of people ask me if i have a v8 in it. LOL i notice if you have the pipes on, it does sound ricey. all i would do if i was you, put turn downs on them, it will make it sound a lot deeper and with more of a gerrrrr

Message: i have single Gibson on my V6 and it sounds very deep and relaxed. Not too loud but noticeable. People r asking "is this 318" a lot. One of the reasons i didn't buy flowmaster, the sound sample on their website was too ricey for me.

Message: Yeah, I get alot of people asking me if I have a V8, too. But, its usually when I'm keeping the truck under 2000 RPMs. I think it sounds great from idle to two grand.
Isn't there alot more interior noise with turn downs? I thought I read somewhere that it sounds better but it's way too loud in the cab. I don't mind the sound now--it's not bad to me, but any louder might make some of my passegers a little annoyed.

Message: cut the cat converter out of it!Then with a glass pack you got a nice deep sound. the cat also robs you of power. i payed some cons at a jiffy lub to get it passes inspectoins no problem

Message: gunner, at one point i had a 2.25" y-pipe, gutted 2.5" cat, 2.5" pipe and a 40 series flowmaster.. it sounded pretty good and it does have a more "hollow" sound to it.. but you still know it's a V6.
the only muffler i liked on my V6 was one built by garret...

Message: Thanks Intense and Cerealkiller-
I think I might have to gut my cat to see if that will help the sound. I know you'll always be able to tell I have a V6, but I don't want it in any way to sound like a crappy 4-banger. What kind of Y-pipe will fit my 2000 RC Dakota 4x4?
