I got a 2000 3.9L 5 speed 3.21 Rear end. Driving home from work with a buddy, A mexican driving an eclipse stop at the redlight next to me reving it up. Of course judgein by the noise it was a 4 cylinder Manual with a turbo. Very little mods done to my 3.9L (Airiad intake, flowmaster exhaust) I thought I thought i could lose. (lighter Car, Turbo Charged?)It was about even off line with the dak leaving a 20ft black mark. It was a very even race, all the way to 80mph in a 35mph Then coming to a turn i left off knowing that i would slide into him around the turn. when we came to the next red light he started talking crap. I was thinking about kicking his ass, then i thought he just spent 3g on only a turbo charger and i spent 8g for my truck and it was a pretty even race. Any other race story's anyone else has?

I raced a S-10 Blazer it had exhaust and it was lowered, it had a lot of Harley Davidson stickers, but he was getting in front of me really pushing my buttons any way i have a 95 dak V6 also lowered and exhaust with some mods. we took of from about 35 miles an hour, after i was in front of him for about 5 minuets going about 95 on a regular street i stopped, he was about 50 yards back the whole time.

I totaly blew away this dude on a bike, man was it sad...kidding. I beat my buddy in his Chevy Z71. Pretty proud of my little 3.9 taking on the 350. Just got out of the muffler place when he thought he would be funny. I didn't expect to win. Adam - funny thing I have a guy at work (and he's mexican) with an eclipse. I want to race him but I dunno if it would be a good idea.
Since I lifted it and got bigger tires.

If I might comment here, I see only 1 of 2 possibilities here:
1) the kid is a dumba$$ like so many, and doesn't know how to drive
2) It wasn't a turbo eclipse- not all of them are I don't think
I base this from driving experience having driven a turbo eclipse. If I was drving a turbo Eclipse, your dakota would be my exhaust gas. I love my truck, but there's no way in hell it's faster than an Eclipse turbo.

I agree with that! I raced my buddy who has a turbo eclipse and I could hardly see his tail lights he was so far ahead of me. We knew that would happen, but we got a good laugh from it.

Anyone want to race my 300c SRT-8. Ha, ha. I tore a brand new Carrera to 100 mph without flooring it. Man this thing is fun to drive. Thinking of sending it to Hennessey Motorsports for their 600 hp package, but it's gonna be 16 grand (mabye an A6 twin turbo 2.7 winter car?). Anyway, I'm not sure you can put that power to the pavement, as it already peels out everywhere with the ESP on.
I still have my 3.9 dakota extended cab, with JBA headers, Crower roller rocker arms, MSD 6A, 8.5mm taylor wires, Platinum 4 spark plugs, Jet stage 1 chip, 48mm throttle body, K&N intake, custom 2.5" exhaust/ y- pipe and adjustable pressure fuel pump. 171,000 miles all original and still leaving most all trucks in the dust. Must put out close to 280 hp and over 300 ft. lbs. of torque for $2200 in mods. Tranny has started to act up though, and the bushings are about shot. Engine runs beautifully.

I have a 2001 Dakota CC with a 3.9 5-speed with 3.55 gears, K&N filter, bored throttle body and dual exhaust(fake ones, single in dual out). On the other hand my mother has a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder 4 cylinder 5-speed no turbo. There is no contest at all. The Spyder can eat my truck alive without even thinking about it...If you have a 3.9 Dak ya can't beat much more then another 3.9 Dak

Who tries to race with a 3.9L anyway? Sure, its a solid engine, but you dont buy it to turn heads at red lights. All you people who say you beat eclipses and such are liars, but if it makes you feel better to say so, keep posting. I dont believe you.

How on earth are you getting 280hp and 300 ft lbs of torque for what you have in there? Last I recall stock ponies on that is 175 with 225 ft lbs of torque. How did you add 105hp with bolt on mods????? Dang, if thats all I gotta do sign me up!

i have raced many people. the funniest had to be a honda CRX and some punk kid driving it. it was lowered and had the hood remove. guy was probably waiting for his carbon fiber hood. so i see him get on it and so i do as well and catch him at the next light. we raced i killed him all the way up to 90mph when i let off and he blows by me in like 9th gear 9k rpm. we get to the next light and he says "thats right foo ya da got beat by a hondaa!" i was laughin so hard at the white trash idiot think his sh!t box was fast.

Adam, same thing happened to me. I got a 92 dakota 3.9 and I left an Eclipse GT, believe it was an 01 to 03? in 2nd, 2 car lengths back. he caught up in 3rd, started to break off in 4 and left him in 5th, topping out at 115mph then had another red light. The guy rolled the window down and clapped, I was just amazed my "Blazin G" as my friends call it, (pretty gay if you ask me) and patted its dash and said good girl.

oh yeah?! well i have a video of my stupid A$$ racing a turbo
eclipse right here...but i let off a couple of seconds into 3rd gear
for some reason, as soon as we hit the second cross walk of the
intersection we were both on the gas.
