I am looking for some threads that have pictures of V6 TBs. I am having a problem getting off my throttle cable and I was wondering what it took to get the stock throttle cable to fit on the V8 TB. I tried to search the older posts but the search engine would not allow me. Thanks in advance.

Brandon: the stock v6 throttle cable will not fit the v8 throttle body, because one has a ball set up and the other a disk set up, as far as a cable goes i just got one from the dealer for 40 beans or you could try buying a used one from the bone yard, also the search feature of this web forum has been disabled for non members.

you could also replace the shaft on the v8tb with the one out of your v6tb. you have to elongate the slot on the shaft to fit the bigger plates. i use a thin cut-off wheel in an air grinder when i do my custom tbs but you could use a saw. i will look for a link where someone has done this before.

I will have to try swapping out the shafts. I have two questions though. So lets say I use the V6 shaft and open up the holes for the V8 butterlies and then I have to take my truck into the dealership for something. I know I could put the V6 shaft with the stock butterflies back into the V6 TB but will the holes from the previous V8 butterflies hurt anything? Also exactly how do you take out the shafts, and make the holes bigger? Thanks in advance.

i wouldn't worry about that. i thinnk the chances are the dealer tech wouldn't notice it.

Just remove the screws that hold the butterflies on to the shaft, 2 per butterfly. Slide the butterflies out, and pull the shaft out. I used a sawsall to make the slot longer. I'd recommend removing the sensor from the throttle body that's at the end of the butterfly shaft before installing the shaft. Once your slot is long enough, push the shaft into the new TB, slide the butterflies in, screw them down, put the sensor back on, hook the spring back up, and put the TB in the truck. The butterflies only fit one way, so if they aren't fitting, slide them in the other way. It is really a lot easier than it sounds. Once you get into it, you will see what needs to be done. I'd guess it took me a little over an hour and a couple beers to do the whole thing.

i have to do pretty much the same thing when i make my 48mm throttle bodies. i use a small thin cut off wheel in a pen grinder (air powered dremel).

Thanks you all for your help. I finished it last night but have not been able to see what kind of gains I am going to get. I do have a question though on the TB linkage to the right of the throttle cable. What is that cable and the cable is alittle loose. It is not like the other cables because the other cables are tight. Does this matter and if it does how do I fix it? Thanks again.

that is the transmission kick down cable. it is supposed to be a little loose. when you mash on the gas, once the throttle gets to a certain point, it engages that cable and makes the transmission kick down. if you havent done so already, i would recommend that you do the tps mod for a few more butt dyno ponies.
